Dhamma Aid Cambodia

April 2010 Update

Dear friends of Dhamma Aid Cambodia,

Some important news....DAC has taken an evolutionary step, emerging from under the wings of the Bandar Utama Buddhist Society ("BUBS") to step out as an independent project. Since 2006, DAC operated as a unit under BUBS. We are very appreciative of the assistance provided in the last 4 years.  However, like everything else, circumstances change and the natural step was for DAC to emerge as its own.

We have taken a few more steps towards independence.

First, we have roped in a few more people into the team. Not only do we share a long-standing friendship, but more importantly, we share a common vision and similar motivations. You can read about us here - Who We Are.

Secondly, we have set up a yahoogroups to keep in touch with our friends and supporters. This is very important. Please subscribe to it by sending an email to da-cambodia-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.  Or just click on the link. We won't use your address for any unrelated matters. It will strictly be used to notify you of updates which, I think, will not be very often.    (Reminder - Please subscribe)

Third, we have opened a Maybank account (a/c no: 112317265206) for receiving funds and which will be used only for our projects.  As we are not a registered organisation, the account is in the name of Lee Yu Ban.

Fourth, as we were working on the website, we have added another page - compelling reasons to support our book publication program.  See  Why Donate To Print Books in Cambodia.

The Homepage has been updated to reflect the new info. These are intermediate steps and it is likely we shall carry on in this manner for the next 2 to 3 years.  We need your continued support to assist the peoples of Cambodia. Please help us publicise this project to your friends.

Distribution of "A Happy Married Life"

In the February update, we informed that we had begun printing 4,000 copies of this book written by Ven K Sri Dhammananda. It is now being distributed by Ven Sin Kong Nyanajoti and his friends who have taken the books on a road show, distributing them to colleges in Phnom Penh, Battambang, Preah Vihear and Kompong Thom. If you are wondering why these books are distributed to college students, it should be noted that Cambodian youths marry at quite a young age, the median being 22 for women and 24 for men, with many marrying in their teens.
