The
Centre of the
Bandar
Utama Buddhist Society
See
progress of construction here:
We
are pleased to inform that the Society has received a grant of land
measuring 20,000 sq ft in Bandar Utama. We are now moving ahead with
various projects to raise the necessary funds. We encourage you to take
advantage of this opportunity now, to maximize the impact of your
actions for the benefit of the Three Jewels, the Buddhist community and
all sentient beings for generations to come.
The
Bandar Utama Buddhist Centre will have as its focus, a resplendent
shrine hall. In addition, there will be a meditation hall, a kitchen,
dining facilities, offices and meeting rooms. There will be ample
facilities for children’s Dhamma education, a sub basement
for car parking and appropriate facilities for the handicapped.
The Centre, while featuring contemporary and environmentally sound
architectural design shall also incorporate traditional Buddhist
features; it will be a landmark structure in Bandar Utama.
The
site was blessed by
monks at the ground breaking ceremony in September 2007, thus setting a
veritable paradigm for our Dhamma inspired activities in the future.
Although
there will be opportunities to contribute building materials and
finishes when the structure is being built or nearing completion, cash
contributions are by far our primary need at present. If you have been
reserving your contribution until construction commences please
contribute now. Your contribution will impact building decisions.
The
breadth and depth of
support for the Centre reveals the deep and personal devotion and
dedication to the Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha, and strong faith in the
community represented by the Bandar Utama Buddhist Society. Your
financial support for the Centre is vital to sustaining the
Society’s activities, the achievement of its vision and its
contributions to the practice of the Dhamma.
An estimated RM5.5 million is needed
to construct the Centre.
Please offer your generosity so that our vision for a lasting spiritual
Centre may be successfully fulfilled. Your gift of funds will benefit
present and future generations.
We appreciate and humbly offer our prayers for your heartfelt
generosity.
The new Centre will be more than just a building!
It will be a place
for practice.
Located
in the prime middle class suburbia of Bandar Utama, the Centre will be
a beacon for those seeking out the teachings of the Buddha. Weekly puja
or worship, Dhamma talks, classes and group meditation sessions will be
offered regularly at the Centre. It will provide an environment that is
deeply needed in our daily lives: a place for all people to come and
experience the benefits of learning, contemplating and practicing the
Buddha’s teachings.
It will be a place for growth.
The
Centre will feature contemporary architectural design harmoniously
incorporating traditional Buddhist features. Importance has been given
to the use of natural light. The heart of the Centre will be the unique
oval-shaped shrine hall to be used for worship and Dhamma instruction.
On the upper floor there will be a large hall for meditation. Adequate
space will be provided for children so that they will have the
opportunity to learn the Dhamma and the Buddhist culture that is
essential to the continuation of our heritage. The Centre will be
equipped with a kitchen and dining area. On the upper floors, visiting
teachers will find comfortable guest quarters.
It
will be a place for community.
The Bandar Utama
Buddhist Society welcomes all who wish to participate. The Centre will
be made available to the public so that all who wish to encounter the
Dhamma will have the precious opportunity. It is our wish that the
local community will be attracted to it and the activities held on its
grounds. We wish that all who walk past its doors may experience the
bliss, happiness and peace offered by the Dhamma.
The Centre will be the
focal point of the Society's effort to preserve
and effectively transmit the Dhamma. It will stand as a landmark of
Dhammaduta initiatives here in the heart of the Klang Valley, Malaysia.
